ADVICES

If you find yourself in the risk group, try following these advices:
zastita

  • Try to avoid exposure to the sun from 10.00am – 04.00pm. Inform yourself about the local UV radiation index and try to find the proper way for your protection.
  • Wear sunscreen with an SPF of 30 + on all exposed skin surfaces. Sunscreens need to be applied more often during continuous exposure (sometimes every 20 minutes) and during activities which might take the lotion off, such as sporting activities or swimming.
  • For your eye’s protection use sunglasses that absorb/block at least 99% UV-A and UVB rays.
  • When in the sun, wear clothes that cover the maximum surface of the skin. Wear long pants and long sleeve shirts; tight clothes with dark colors offer better protection than wide clothes with bright colors.
  • Wear a broad brimmed hat to cover the head and face.
  • The use of some medicines (oral contraceptives, antibiotics, hypertension, arthritis and depression medicines, skin care products) is making you more sensitive to sun radiation.
  • The protection should be used even during cloudy weather, because 80% of solar radiation reaches the soil through clouds and fog. Solar protection is important even on snow because it reflects up to 95% of the solar radiation. Because of the radiation reflection, spending time on water could also cause sunburn.

Children’s skin protection is very important. With the proper sun-protection in the first 18 years of life the risk of certain types of skin carcinoma can be decreased up to 78%.
